SBA TITLE FIGHT REVIEW
!!!
OLANDER - SWISHER "BRAWL FOR IT ALL" IS HISTORY !!! JULY 17, 2005
      The Scott Olander – Chris
Swisher SBA Pittsburgh Chapter #1 Heavyweight Title bout, one of the most anticipated tabletop meetings in years, took place on Saturday night, July 16th, in the fabled "Pit" at the Spikenard Outdoor Arena. This bout featured the best of the best. Not only was Olander defending his title against the number one contender in Swisher, but it was the very first time number one (Olander) and number two (Swisher) on the SBA All Time Top Twenty had ever met on the tabletop. It more than lived up to all the hype. And it was a very strategic (i.e., long) bout. As one ringsider quipped: "It was twelve plus rounds of exciting tabletop action spread out over what seemed to be a day and a half." True. But if you were there, you knew you were watching something special. And thanks to the swell folks at C&M Promotions, the beer stayed cold all night! So if you missed it, shame on you. But lucky for you, you can relive the entire evening's activities by clicking HERE.
The co-Main Event saw surging newcomer Donald "Mad Max" McKellar shake off a sluggish first round and score an impressive seventh round TKO over highly regarded veteran of the card tossing wars Alan "The Answer" Corrado. As a result, McKellar will be meeting Don "The Bull" Waxter in a September bout that could very well have future heavyweight title implications! |

SBA OPEN NIGHT !!!
EVANS AVENUE HOSTS A TABLETOP TRIPLE HEADER !!! MAY 29, 2005       In a rare sunday night get together, three contests were held and all were scheduled for eight rounds. In the opener, Donald "Mad Max" McKellar scored a second round knockdown on his way to a fifth round TKO over Chris "The Heat" Krasa. In a mild upset, John "Mack Daddy" Swisher took the last four rounds in a closely contested bout to take a Unanimous Decision over highly rated Suzy "Night Train" Cupp. Saving the best for last, Becky "The Rebel" Gusky, who received a Warning from the referee prior to the start of round six, stormed back to take the final three rounds impressively and narrowly avoid an upset at the hands of Light Heavyweight contender Keely "The Punkinator" Cupp. The Unanimous Decision moved Gusky into the fifth spot in the ratings. But the real highlight of the evening was the fact that all in attendance were able to leave with their limbs intact, which was a real concern given the greyhound bus of a family dog named "Bo" who seemed to delight in flashing his nasty big pointy teeth at anyone or anything that moved. Momentarily cornered, Yours truly was barely able to fend off his monstrous attentions by distracting him with a plate of deviled eggs. Was I scared? Not until he ate the plate. |

SBA ELIMINATION BOUT !!!
SIMONETTE - WAXTER BATTLE IT OUT FOR FALL TITLE SHOT !!! MAY 21, 2005       In an elimination bout previously scheduled to take place on the undercard of the May 29th Scott "Savage Swede" Olander - Chris "The Body Snatcher" Swisher Memorial Day "Brawl For It All", contenders Joe "Silky" Simonette and Don "The Bull" Waxter decided they had a score to settle that just COULDN'T WAIT. At stake, in addition to bragging rights for this longtime personal rivalry, was the right to meet the Olander - Swisher winner early this fall for undisputed tabletop supremacy. Did "The Bull" continue his dominance over "Doctor Jellyfinger"? Or did "Silky" finally put an end to the "Smackster" jinx? Click HERE for a ringside report of a bout that was as exciting as any you will ever see! |

SBA CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT
!!!
THE RETURN OF THE KING; OLANDER BACK WITH A VENGANCE !!! FEBRUARY 5, 2005       Chalk up another impressive big name (and big time) comeback! First it was Felix Trinidad making a victorious return to the ring after a two year layoff. Then Kostya Tszyu followed suit after his own two and a half year hiatus. And on Saturday night, February 5th, Scott Olander made it a trifecta with a stunning stoppage over defending champion Joe Simonette to regain the Pittsburgh Chapter #1 top slot and solidify his number one position as the all time best ever to play the game.
