SBA HEAVYWEIGHT SHAKEUP !!!
OLANDER FAILS TO SHOW; STRIPPED OF TITLE !!! SIMONETTE AND SWISHER MEET FOR INTERIM BELT !!! OCTOBER 23, 2005       It was a tabletop boxing promoter's bad dream, and a Commissioner's worst nightmare. In an afternoon leading up to a series of scheduled bouts which were to feature a number of the SBA Pittsburgh Chapter #1's top contenders, one by one each match fell apart, with the no-show of defending Champion Scott "Savage Swede" Olander, who was to meet Joe "Silky" Simonette in a
rematch of their February 5th bout, providing the final sickening thud. Adding insult to injury was that this event marked yet another first in this Pittsburgh Chapter's history, as it was being held at the Mews Clubhouse in the North Hills, the first ever legitimate "neutral" site for a tabletop boxing card. If ever there was an opportunity to showcase the game and the SBA, this was it. But as they say, the show must go on, and after some difficult last minute decisions by the Commissioner, it did.
It was decided that Olander would be relieved of his title, and that Simonette would meet former champion Chris Swisher in a 12 round bout for the interim heavyweight title. The winner would then hold the title 30 days, after which time Olander has the option of meeting the winner within the following 30 days. Failing that, the winner would have the option of selecting his opponent from a Commissioner approved list for a voluntary defense of the title. Whew. And you thought this crap was easy.       Once all of that was sorted out, the stage was set for Simonette and Swisher to renew their rivalry. It was Swisher who had set the modern day record for successful title defenses and length of title reign, only to meet her match (twice) in Simonette. With two classic battles in the books, could they make it a third? For the fight review (and pics to view), click HERE. |

SBA RETURNS TO 15 ROUND CHAMPIONSHIP

TABLETOP BOXING TO BRING BACK FISTIC TRADITION !!! OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT       The STRATEGY BOXING ASSOCIATION (SBA) announced it's decision to reinstate the 15 round distance for all future championship bouts. Despite it's inception in the mid-to-late '80's, the 12 round limit was never popular with traditional (and in our case, tabletop) boxing fans. Throughout the sport's history, the 13th, 14th and 15th were considered the "championship rounds", and the crucible over which championship hearts were molded and legends were forged. It was for those reasons and many more that the SBA decided to go back to the 15 round limit. As boxing fans, we can only hope that the boxing world's powers-that-be will follow suit and return the SBA ALL TIME TOP TWENTY LIST !!! TABLETOP BOXING EXPERT MAKES HIS "BEST EVER" PICKS !!! ARTICLE       Since it's inception, the STRATEGY BOXING ASSOCIATION (SBA) has witnessed hundreds of tabletop competitors do battle under the supervision of the SBA. And now Site Staff Writer P. PUCKRAM, with the help of reams of worn and tattered scorecards, two pencils, solar powered calculator, a pile of crumpled cigarettes packages and a three pound bag of Millstone coffee offers his assessment of the all time best ever to sit down and card up!       Are YOU one of STRATEGY BOXING'S All Time best?
